The Sun (05/10/2024)

Witness the Sun’s power up close!

Sun Activity on October 5, 2024

On October 5, 2024, the Sun showcased a fascinating display of solar activity, including multiple active sunspot regions and intricate prominences. During this period, the Sun was at a high level of activity, typical for a solar maximum phase, with several regions displaying complex magnetic structures. A G3 geomagnetic storm watch was issued due to a Coronal Mass Ejection (CME) from previous activity, indicating heightened solar conditions around this time.

In the images captured on this day, prominent sunspot regions, including AR3869 and other active areas, are visible. These sunspots have significant magnetic complexity, which can lead to further solar flares and eruptions.

Captured in high resolution through H-alpha imaging, these photos offer a close-up view of the Sun’s turbulent surface, with dark sunspots, bright flares, and swirling prominences.
